If you were so sick, should you have the right to be medically put to sleep?

in some states, for terminally ill patients, it has been made legal for doctors to give the patient pills so the patient can take their own life in peace in their own home. I'm for this, though I would never do it. there's always a small chance you will live and there's no telling how long you will actually live.
Patient's do have the right to tell doctors to discontinue treatment if their case is considered futile. I don't see a problem with it. let the people do what they like.

I don't either. I think if I was so ill that I couldn't do anything but be a vegetable, then I would want to be put to sleep if I knew that there wasn't any hope left for quality of life.

Yes I think it is ok if that is what they really want so they will not be sick or in pain anymore.

This is pretty much an echo, but choosing to die, while in some cases I would call it cowardess, in some cases I also think it understandable. It is your body, your mind, your choice.

I think matters like this need to be discussed between yourself and your family, in case something happened where you were incapasitated and could not answer for yourself. someone, like your power of attorney, would have to tell the doctors your wishes as far as being hooked up to life support is concerned.
In my case, I would not like being attached to machines to keep me alive, because it would put far too much emotional stress on on my family to see me as a mass of wires, IV poles, tubes, etc. even if there were a chance of saving my life, I still wouldn't want that. If it's time for me to go, then it's time for me to go.
